Receptionist

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed receptionist to join our friendly team at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. The post is part time. Monday-Friday 25-30 hours a week, we are open to discussing flexible working patterns within this range. Hours to be worked between the hours of 08.00am-18.30pm. We are ideally looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and experience with dealing with the general public. Delivering high quality services is essential.

Duties will include general assistance to the practice team, answering the telephone, care navigation, sign posting patients to the most appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Dealing with patient enquiries both over the telephone and on the front desk. Computer literacy is essential and full training will be given as appropriate.

Rate of pay is to be discussed and will be offered membership of the NHS pension scheme.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers requests appropriately.
  • Signpost patients to the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
  • Taking messages and passing information on
  • Dealing with prescription queries in accordance with Practice Guidelines.
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers.
  • Keeping the reception area, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter.
  • Input data into the patient's healthcare records as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.

Job responsibilities

Offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.

Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service of healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice, including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.

Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.

You will be working between the hours of 8am and 6.30pm. Shifts to be agreed. There will be a need to work over our branch sites, The Gaer Medical Centre and St Brides Medical Centre.
