FULL DESCRIPTION

Electronic Engineer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking an experienced Electronic Engineer for their design team based in Haverthwaite, near Ulverston, Cumbria. This is a full-time, on-site role focused on developing cutting-edge underwater acoustic technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with team members to develop electronic circuitry and embedded systems.
  • Designing and testing electrical schematics and circuit boards, constructing prototypes, and diagnosing problems.
  • Working with and developing embedded systems.
  • Assisting in developing technical content for other departments, suppliers, and customers.
  • Occasionally participating in customer support, training, and demonstrations.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

  • Relevant qualification and previous experience in electronics engineering.
  • Theoretical knowledge or experience with analogue circuitry, signal conditioning, ADC, digital logic, power supplies.
  • Proficiency in developing schematics and PCB designs with CAD software (e.g., Altium Designer).
  • Experience with embedded microprocessors (PIC, AVR, ARM) and firmware development in C or C++.
  • Creative, analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication, time-management, and teamwork skills.
  • Competence in standard office software (Microsoft 365/Office).

Desirable Skills

  • Communication protocols (RS232/485, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, USB).
  • High-speed digital design (FPGA, memories, clock buffers).
  • Design for reduced electromagnetic interference.
