Rehabilitation Support Worker Level 1
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Ltd is seeking a Rehabilitation Support Worker Level 1 to provide contact, care, and support to a client with brain injury. The role involves implementing support plans, assisting with daily living activities, therapy programmes, and maintaining records. Candidates should have experience in brain injury rehabilitation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, and a valid driving licence.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative
- Work flexibly as required by the needs of the client and the Company.
- Liaise effectively with your Line Manager regarding rota for weekly activities.
- Develop and maintain effective communication with the client, family and therapists.
- Follow support plans and risk assessments.
- Keep accurate daily records and complete documentation as requested.
- Complete accurate money recording, handover notes and file notes.
- Communicate any concerns (accidents and incidents) promptly and document accordingly.
- Complete timesheets on a weekly basis.
- Attend and participate in relevant training sessions.
- Attend meetings when required.
Rehabilitation Support Provision
- Assist with implementation of appropriate support for your client as directed by your Line Manager.
- Encourage minimal support and assist your client to develop existing skills of daily living/domestic activities in: Therapy programmes (follow support plan, therapist guidelines), Social skills, communication and development, Leisure and hobbies (community activities), Daily living activities (prompt and supervise personal care, household duties, meal preparation), Maintaining safety, Moderate challenging behavioural needs.
- Ensure health and wellbeing of your client by liaising closely with client/family in accordance with support plan.
Other Duties
- Ensure health and safety of your client at home and out in the community.
- Maintain client privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as dictated by the needs of the Company.
- Recognise that staff are visitors in the client’s home.
Person Specification
Skills
Essential: Previous experience of supporting clients with brain injury or other impairments; Experience of community based rehabilitation; Experience in the use of rehabilitation plans/timetables; Good interpersonal skills; Effective oral and written communication; Experience of working alone and as part of a team; Ability to use initiative; Ability to recognise own limitations; Confidentiality and respect; Knowledge of Health & Safety issues; Knowledge of local area; Car driver; Available to work flexible shifts including evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays and undertake sleep-in duties; Practical ability and skills in social and domestic tasks; Accompany client on short breaks/holidays in UK or abroad.
Desirable: Knowledge of brain injury; NVQ level two/three in care; Computer skills; Current certificate of administration of medication; Current certificate of moving and handling; Food hygiene and basic cooking skills; Current first aid certificate; Previous experience of driving a wheelchair adapted vehicle.
