FULL DESCRIPTION

Backend Developer - Senior

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Senior Backend Developer for the Data & AI department. This role involves building backend features for the ORBIT portal, a project profit/loss calculation tool used by up to 1000 users. The developer will work in an Agile Scrum team and collaborate with technical leads, Scrum masters, and product managers. Responsibilities include developing APIs, integrating front-end components, managing data exchange with big data platforms, and ensuring security and performance.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Build efficient back-end features in Python or using Java SpringBoot.
  • Integrate front-end components into applications.
  • Design and develop APIs at high quality.
  • Manage data interchange between big data platform and front-end components.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, and team members to enhance user experience.
  • Analyze and improve backend performance and scalability.
  • Estimate effort and suggest process improvements.
  • Implement security and data protection.
  • Prepare technical documentation.

Functional Skills: Strong teamwork, adaptability, communication, time management.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microservices design, Java SpringBoot, Python with Django, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Hive, Impala, Sqoop, Oozie, Hbase, YARN, Zookeeper, Scala, HUE, relational databases (MySQL/SQL Server/PostgreSQL), NoSQL (MongoDB/Cassandra), RESTful APIs, CI/CD, GIT/GITLAB, Linux, shell scripting, data security (tokenization, encryption, anonymization). Also experience with SOA, EDA, design patterns, JavaScript, Angular 2+, HTML5, CSS3. Bonus: Java, Node.js. Agile/DevOps experience and ITIL foundation knowledge are pluses.

Educational Background and Experience

  • B.Sc. in computer science or equivalent
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus
  • 5+ years of software development experience
