FULL DESCRIPTION

Technical Manager

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Technical Manager to lead technical operations at its South Kensington venue. This is a one-year renewable contract, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Gross monthly salary: £3,687 plus benefits.

Purpose

As Technical Manager, you will ensure every screening and event at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] delivers a flawless audience experience. Combining hands-on technical expertise with strategic planning, you will support a rich and diverse cultural programme.

Missions

  • Ensure technical responsibility for installation (film projection, sound system, stage lighting, audiovisual) for all spaces.
  • Manage teams of technicians and projectionists.
  • Determine technical requirements and allocate resources.
  • Monitor and maintain technical equipment.
  • Develop equipment renewal plan.
  • Coordinate with events operations manager, programming departments, and IT manager.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers and visiting artists.

Cinema Operations

  • Guarantee technical quality of screenings per DCI standards.
  • Oversee print traffic (DCPs, KDMs, 35mm).
  • Operate digital cinema projectors (Christie CP4220, CP2215), DCP servers (Doremi ShowVault 4K), and 35mm projectors (Kinoton FP-30D).
  • Lead technical setup for festivals, premieres, Q&As.
  • Manage videoconference and video recording systems.

Qualifications

  • Higher education in cinema, audiovisual, sound, lighting or live performance.
  • Expertise in digital and film projection (DCP, 35mm, DCI standards).
  • Good knowledge of sound, lighting, video projection, and recording.
  • Proficiency in OBS, Zoom, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, DCP-o-matic.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards.
  • Fluency in English and French.

Conditions

One-year renewable contract: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Gross monthly salary: £3,687. 32 days paid leave + public holidays. Travel allowance provided.
