Job Description: Lead Pastor, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] 300 Middleton Road Westwood, Oldham OL9 6JH. The [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] website is www.firwood.church. Full time - 37.5 hours per week. Flexible hours considered by arrangement. Part time candidates may be considered upon request (salary pro rata). Permanent. Salary: £25,000-£30,000 per annum (dependent upon experience). Pension scheme available. PLEASE NOTE: The position is only open to candidates who have the legal right to work in the UK. Vision & Scope

Scope: To lead the Elders, the ministry, and God's people at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] through the proclamation of the gospel, the faithful teaching of God's Word, through prayer, and in setting an example through pursuit of personal holiness and godly living.
Role & Responsibilities
- Ministry: Faithfully proclaim the Gospel and teach God's Word through contemporary expository preaching and bible study. Oversee the work and witness of the church. Provide pastoral care that loves, nurtures, and promotes growth in personal holiness and zeal for the glory of Christ.
- Mission: Model and motivate commitment to the Great Commission, locally, nationally, and to the nations. Promote and oversee new and existing ministries to take the gospel to the least and the lost.
- Management: Provide biblical leadership to the Elders, church, and oversee areas: oversee and lead Elders and Deacons; promote and oversee ministries; ordinarily chair Board of Elders, Board of Trustees, Diaconate, and church meetings; represent [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] externally.
Responsibilities:
- Faithfully proclaim and teach the word of God in public meetings, small groups, and personal meetings.
- Shepherd the flock of God, administering preaching, believers' baptism, Lord's table, membership, and church discipline.
- Promote and participate in gospel proclamation within Westwood, Oldham, and surrounding community.
- Establish strong relationships with local churches.
- Promote and oversee existing ministries for alignment with gospel and church vision.
Expectations:
- Serve alongside Elders demonstrating characteristics of 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1, 1 Peter 5:1-3.
- Model accountability through periodic reviews.
- Be accountable to Board of Elders, Trustees, and church membership.
- Relocate if required and live locally (within 5 miles).
Qualifications & Experience
- Thoroughly equipped for gospel ministry (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
- Member of FIEC Pastors Network or willingness to apply.
- Passionate for proclamation and teaching of God's Word.
- Committed to Great Commission and progress of gospel.
- Experienced in leadership, preferably in Pastor/Elder role.
- Gifted in pastoral care and shepherding.
- Visionary, self-disciplined, strategic.
- Demonstrating increasing Christ-likeness.
Duties
Pastoral Responsibilities:
- Prepare for and conduct worship services, lead ordinances.
- Lead regular church prayer meetings.
- Officiate at weddings, baptisms, funerals.
- Regularly preach on Sundays, lead Bible studies, membership classes.
- Undertake training for church leaders, Trustees, Deacons.
- Conduct premarital, vocational, family, bereavement counselling.
- Work with families in crisis.
- Visit church and community members in homes, hospitals, prisons.
Leadership:
- Chair Board of Elders, Board of Trustees, church meetings.
- Work with Deacons, Trustees, committees.
- Lead committees in vision discernment and planning.
- Ensure record keeping for committees and business meetings.
- Provide administrative leadership.
Health and Safety:
- Oversee church building management and statutory checks.
- Maintain safeguarding procedures and DBS checks.
Communication:
- Keep church informed of developments.
- Develop fund raising strategies.
- Engage in activities to promote membership.
