About the Organisation
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is a large and highly successful special school educating over 270 students aged 3-19, who, due to their Autism and associated learning differences, require significant specialist support to succeed academically and achieve their full potential. About the Role
Teaching Assistants make the education of their students their first concern and are key to the students achieving the highest possible outcomes. You will be a professional with the honesty and integrity at the centre of everything you do. With strong commitment to safeguarding students, you will be child-centred with high aspirations for those you support. If you are hardworking, with a can-do attitude and a learning mind-set – you will be an ideal candidate for this most rewarding role! The main responsibilities for the post are:
- Support students with their socio-emotional engagement with learning and promote independence in a safe environment.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
- Promote the inclusion of all students, so that all have equal opportunities to feel included and to contribute to school life.
- Support class teachers to create a supportive and relaxed working environment that make students feel happy and secure.
- Implement the positive behaviour approaches set out by the school, including Restorative Practice and Zones of Regulation.
A good understanding of behaviour as communication, attachment theory, SEMH needs in the classroom, and theory underlying nurture provision are ideal for any professional working in our school. All support, guidance and great future career prospects will be available to the successful candidate. Previous school experience is not essential and applications are encouraged from those with transferrable skills from similar sectors such as early years or adult social care.
Personal Qualities
- Be able to meet key accountabilities set out in Job Description
- Have experience and/or transferrable skills in this area
- Be able to use ICT effectively
- Have good organisational skills
- Have good communication skills
- Good levels of literacy and numeracy
- Full TA training will be provided to the successful candidate
