This position would suit an experienced engineer with a strong background in precision grinding, CNC machining, or machine tool technologies who enjoys managing technical projects from concept to customer acceptance. Full training on internal systems and processes will be provided.
The Role
As a Project Engineer, you will take ownership of machine tool projects from order receipt through to final customer acceptance. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, procurement and commissioning teams, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required technical and quality standards. The role combines hands‑on commissioning activities with structured project management, customer liaison, and cross‑functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage machine tool projects from order receipt through to final customer acceptance, ensuring delivery in line with scope, schedule, and cost targets.
- Maintain and update project schedules using Microsoft Project; monitor milestones and communicate progress or risks and update budget files.
- Lead project review meetings with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Support CNC control verification, axis functionality checks, and fault finding.
- Lead machine commissioning and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at the UK facility, ensuring machines meet technical and quality standards.
- Support installation, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at customer sites.
- Conduct machine setup, application trials, and process validation.
What We’re Looking For
- CNC control interfaces (Siemens/Fanuc) – basic operational understanding required.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use CAD viewing tools.
- Experience with precision grinding machines, CNC grinding, or high‑precision machining equipment.
- Experience managing technical engineering projects through build, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
- Use of MRP, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook – Intermediate level.
- Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills during commissioning and installation.
- Willingness to travel internationally and support customer visits to the UK.
- Flexibility and occasional weekend working required.
- A reasonable level of physical agility is required for moving around large machine tools, accessing confined areas, and working on extended commissioning tasks.
