Position Details

  • Position: Procurement Manager (UK & Ireland) - Glasgow
  • Location: Head Office, Glasgow
  • Job Type: Full time, 39.5 hours per week - permanent
  • Hours: Monday to Friday
  • Salary: £60-£65,000.00 p.a. plus annual management bonus

Purpose of Role

The Procurement Manager leads and develops a team of Buyers, driving performance across a global supply base. Working cross-functionally, the role partners with internal stakeholders and suppliers at all levels to deliver projects on time and meet critical product deadlines. The role holder will have authority for financial spend within agreed purchasing parameters and is accountable for department decisions during coverage periods and across assigned categories or projects. This role ensures procurement strategy aligns with business objectives and internal audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the Procurement strategy ensuring robust, audit-compliant internal processes, policies and procedures
  • Lead, coach and develop the Procurement team
  • Monitor and improve supplier and procurement performance
  • Produce and present accurate management information and reporting
  • Maintain healthy stock levels across current lines, expediting orders and reviewing consumption to ensure timely replenishment
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, stakeholders and customers
  • Negotiate and award supplier contracts
  • Manage the procurement function for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] and Espresso Warehouse
  • Lead system implementation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support New Product Development in collaboration with Marketing and Sales
  • Manage non-stock suppliers, including contract creation and performance monitoring
  • Drive cost management initiatives and identify savings opportunities
  • Oversee day-to-day administration (delivery notes, discrepancies, order records, price database accuracy and document control)
  • Manage company utilities contracts and spend
  • Organise, lead, and manage project work from a Procurement perspective

Person Specification

Education / Qualifications / Training

  • Educated to degree level
  • CIPS or equivalent qualification

Experience - Essential

  • Proven experience in a similar Procurement role within a commercial environment
  • Project management and delivery to deadline
  • Cost reduction and value improvement initiative
  • Managing high-value tenders
  • Strong negotiation and contract management experience

Experience - Desirable

  • Dealing with a worldwide supplier base
  • Fleet management exposure
  • Contract creation
  • People Management and Development

Skills / Knowledge - Essential

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercially astute, numerate and analytically strong, with proven negotiation and influencing ability
  • Highly organised with strong time management, forward planning and workload prioritisation skills
  • Proven ability to deliver projects within agreed timescales and meet critical deadlines
  • High attention to detail, accuracy and problem-solving capability
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ideally Microsoft Dynamics
  • Professional and responsive in handling supplier and internal customer queries
  • Able to follow direction and operate within agreed parameters
