The Role
The Programmes Team Manager ensures impactful, accountable, and efficient implementation of projects within designated countries. This role aligns project execution with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s vision, providing strategic leadership, operational management, and capacity development for teams and partners. The manager plays a pivotal role in maximizing the charity’s impact while maintaining transparency and donor satisfaction.
Main Duties
- Leadership and Team Development: Lead, supervise, and performance-manage all team members; foster a culture of shared vision and accountability; develop capacity-building plans; define team structure; manage in-country teams.
- Strategic Planning: Define priorities with the Programmes Director; develop short- and long-term strategies; create annual operational plans; track socio-economic developments; provide monthly progress updates to the Board of Trustees.
- Implementation and Monitoring: Oversee the Project Delivery Framework; monitor project outcomes and budgets; develop monitoring mechanisms; maintain records; liaise with Compliance and Finance; collaborate with Media team; evaluate projects and document lessons.
- Field Visits: Plan and execute field visits; prepare reports; conduct risk assessments.
- Emergency Response: Develop emergency plans; coordinate implementation; support media campaigns; participate in field teams.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Manage partner organisations; build capacities; represent [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] to government and umbrella organisations.
- Safeguarding and Compliance: Build team capacity on safeguarding policies; ensure partner compliance; report breaches.
- Miscellaneous: Represent [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] at events; undertake additional duties.
Person Specification
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in social sciences, management, or development studies (Essential); Professional certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2) or humanitarian leadership (Desirable); Technical training in humanitarian fields (Desirable).
Experience: Demonstrable experience managing budgets and analysing financial data (Essential); 3-5 years managing project teams in humanitarian context (Essential); Experience using digital tools for remote team management (Desirable); Familiarity with donor relations and grant writing (Desirable).
Skills/Abilities: Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel; Exceptional written and verbal communication in English and Arabic; Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; Excellent report writing skills; Ability to manage conflicting priorities.
