Advanced Specialist Pharmacist for Antipsychotics

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity for an Advanced Pharmacist to play a key role in shaping high quality, person centred mental health care across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], primary care, and neighbourhood teams. Working closely with the Lead Pharmacist, you will provide expert clinical leadership in the optimisation of oral antipsychotic medicines, ensuring prescribing is safe, evidence based, and aligned with shared care pathways.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Undertake complex clinical assessments and therapeutic reviews, optimising oral antipsychotic treatment and managing high risk medicines.
  • Provide responsive expert advice and guidance to GPs, practice based pharmacists, and neighbourhood practitioners.
  • Lead annual shared care reviews, including medicines reconciliation, treatment effectiveness assessment, and deprescribing consideration.
  • Contribute to the development of prescribing protocols, clinical guidelines, patient resources, audit, and quality improvement.

Person Specification

Essential Experience

  • Experience as a practising pharmacist, including mental health and multidisciplinary team working.
  • Experience of networking across healthcare disciplines.
  • Experience of policy development and audit work.
  • Experience of delivering education to healthcare staff and patients.

Essential Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Postgraduate diploma or equivalent specialist knowledge in mental health
