Automation & DevOps Engineer

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage Azure infrastructure, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and resilience across customer and internal environments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, supporting automated deployments, testing, and release processes.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as ARM, Bicep, or Terraform to ensure consistency and repeatability across environments.
- Lead and support cloud migrations, modernisation projects, and infrastructure deployments, ensuring smooth and well‑documented transitions.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise cloud workloads, using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tools to identify issues and enhance system performance.
- Create clear and comprehensive documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and reports to support internal teams and customer understanding.
- Collaborate with support teams, acting as an escalation point for complex Azure and automation‑related issues.
- Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to automate, streamline, and enhance DevOps practices and cloud operations.
- Provide occasional guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and support teams to help strengthen internal capability.
Skills / Attributes Required
- Strong experience in cloud engineering or DevOps roles, within Azure‑based environments.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure, including identity, compute, storage, networking, and security services.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, repositories, and build/release processes.
- Solid understanding of PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Strong working knowledge of networking principles, including firewalls, VPNs, routing, and hybrid connectivity.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a clear and accessible manner.
- Strong customer‑focused mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Highly organised, able to work under pressure, manage priorities, and meet deadlines and SLAs.
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Preferred Industry Qualifications
- Azure Administrator Associate (AZ‑104)
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ‑400)
- AWS Cloud Practitioner advantageous but not required.
