The Role

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build a career and gain hands-on experience in financial operations within the professional services sector, studying toward a recognised professional qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly Management Accounts to draft stage, including full monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts across all group companies and posting monthly nominal journals.
  • Drafting Revenue Recognition journal on a monthly basis, reconciliation of Accrued and Deferred Revenue.
  • Monitoring and reporting of Financial and Non-Financial metrics to Senior Management and Board level.
  • Management of accounts payable function to ensure correct month-end cut-off and accrual identification.
  • Management of accounts receivable function including invoicing cut-off and credit control with Project Managers.
  • Processing of Intercompany transactions, including interest and reconciliation.
  • Contribute to payroll and staff expenses processing.
  • Monitoring departmental budgets and investigating variances.
  • Provide external audit support.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Support day-to-day financial administration and ad hoc Corporate Services projects.

Essential Criteria

  • Completing a 2.1 or above degree by June 2026 in Finance or Accounting.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates initiative and willingness to learn.
  • Professional and confidential approach.
  • Ready to commence studying for professional accountancy exams.

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrates a keen interest in GRC or corporate finance.
  • Experience working within a professional services business.
