Role Purpose

To support, and mentor the architectural team in delivering innovative, sustainable, and high-quality design solutions. This role ensures alignment with the practice’s strategic objectives while contributing to project excellence and team development.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Work closely with the Design Directors to implement the strategic objectives for the architectural discipline.
  • Mentor and Lead the architectural team, ensuring alignment with the practice’s vision, design ethos, and technical excellence.
  • Support the annual growth strategy for the architectural discipline, identifying opportunities for innovation, expansion, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with teams across disciplines to ensure seamless integration of design with technical and commercial objectives.
  • Champion a culture of design excellence, sustainability, and innovation across all projects.

Design & Project Oversight

  • Provide mentoring in the design process, ensuring the highest standards of creativity, sustainability, and functionality.
  • Oversee and review design outputs at all project stages, ensuring alignment with client expectations and industry best practices.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to regulatory and professional standards, including RIBA work stages and best practice guidelines.
  • Support and oversee the implementation of BIM 19650 and other relevant design technologies to enhance efficiency and collaboration.

Line Management & Team Development

  • Provide mentoring to junior members of staff
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation across projects, balancing workload distribution and skill development.

Supporting Business Growth & Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Support the overall business objectives of the multidisciplinary practice, ensuring design & technical excellence contributes to commercial success.
  • Identify opportunities for new business, contributing to bids, competitions, and client presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines, leading an integrated approach to project delivery and fostering strong interdepartmental relationships.
  • Represent the practice externally, promoting its design leadership and engaging with industry networks.

Workflow & Efficiency

  • Establish and refine design workflows to enhance efficiency and consistency across projects.
  • Fully implement the IMS and QA procedures of the Practice
  • Ensure effective coordination between design and technical teams to achieve optimal project outcomes.
