Job Description

The Community Outreach Officer will play a vital role in connecting local communities in Wellingborough with the Green Doctor service. Through proactive outreach, partnership building, and culturally sensitive engagement, the postholder will raise awareness, generate referrals, and ensure that families - particularly those who may be less likely to engage- can access energy and wellbeing support. This role is community-based, relationship-driven, and focused on creating lasting impact through trust, visibility, and collaboration.

Job Purpose

To increase access to the Green Doctor service across Wellingborough by building trusted relationships within local communities, particularly those less likely to engage with traditional services. The postholder will work in a highly visible and community-based way, embedding themselves within neighbourhoods, community spaces, and local networks to raise awareness, encourage referrals, and ensure support reaches those most in need. Through proactive outreach, partnership development, and culturally competent engagement, the role will identify and break down barriers that prevent households from accessing energy advice and support. This includes working closely with community organisations, faith groups, housing providers, and local stakeholders to strengthen referral pathways and improve understanding of the service. The Community Outreach Officer will also play a key role in gathering insight from communities, ensuring their voices shape service delivery, improve accessibility, and increase uptake. By working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers, and community champions, the postholder will help create a responsive, inclusive, and impactful service that supports residents to live in warmer, healthier homes.
