Job Description
As a bricklayer the candidate is expected to be a skilled construction professional responsible for the precise and meticulous construction of brick, stone, and masonry structures. Bricklayers contribute to the foundation and aesthetics of buildings, ensuring their durability, stability, and visual appeal through expert craftsmanship.
Entry Requirements
Entry will usually require GCSEs/S grades but if possible with other academic qualifications and/or relevant experience is also acceptable. However previous experience of similar work is preferred.
Tasks
- Interpret blueprints, measure, and mark brickwork layout.
- Select, inspect, and prepare mortar and materials.
- Skilfully lay bricks with precision and alignment.
- Applies mortar onto foundations and bricks, then positions, levels, and arranges bricks within the mortar bedding
- Creates markings and shapes stones using hammers, mallets, and manual or pneumatic chisels.
- Apply and shape mortar for seamless joints
- Restore damaged structures with care.
- Erecting and refurbishing fences and other open-air frameworks.
