Operations Assistant (Marine Services)

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a proactive Operations Assistant for a full-time, permanent role based in Orkney. Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum.

About Us

We are a growing marine consultancy and operations business supporting offshore and nearshore projects. Our work spans marine operations, vessel-based activities, and project support services. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a proactive and adaptable Operations Assistant to support the business across a range of activities.

Role Overview

This is a varied and hands-on role supporting day-to-day operations of the business. You will be involved in administrative tasks, financial administration, and, where appropriate, practical support within the workshop and on vessels. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, willing to learn, and enjoys a mix of office-based and practical work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrative Support: General office administration and document control; supporting project documentation (e.g. reports, method statements, risk assessments); managing emails, scheduling, and client communications; maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
  • Operational & Workshop Support (Training Provided): Assisting with vessel mobilisation and logistics; supporting workshop activities (e.g. lifejacket servicing and equipment preparation); assisting with on-site or vessel-based work where required.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • An interest or previous experience in the marine environment

Desirable:

  • Practical or hands-on experience
  • Previous experience onboard vessels
  • Local knowledge of the marine supply chain in Orkney
