Job Description

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is delighted to be recruiting its third cohort of Company Secretary trainees. Following the success of our legal training programmes and the fantastic launch of our CoSec scheme with household-name companies like The Crown Estate and Diageo, we are looking for the next generation of governance leaders.

This programme is designed for academically strong graduates from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds who are keen to build an exciting and influential career by qualifying as a Company Secretary.

The role of a trainee Company Secretary

  • Board and Committee Support: Assisting with planning and organisation of meetings, preparing board packs, developing minute writing skills.

  • Corporate Governance and Compliance: Making statutory filings with Companies House, maintaining compliance software, researching regulatory changes.

  • General and Administrative Tasks: Managing document signings, responding to queries, performing administrative duties.

Job Requirements

The Flex Trainee Programme: How It Works

  • Structure: Employed by [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] for 24 months, seconded to a client.
  • Pre-placement training: Three-week Readiness Programme covering human skills, professional skills, and foundational co-sec training.
  • Work and study: Work 4.5 days a week, half a day studying part one of the Chartered Governance Institute's Qualifying Programme.
  • Cohort experience: Supportive cohort with networking opportunities.

What you receive

  • Year 1 salary: £32,000 in London or £28,000 in the regions. Year 2: £35,000 in London or £31,000 in the regions.
  • Study Part One of the CGI Qualifying Programme with tuition provided.
  • Three-week Readiness Programme, in-house supervisor, regular coaching, industry mentor in Y2, professional development events.

Eligibility

  • A minimum 2:1 degree in Law, Business, Accounting, or related field.
  • Meet social mobility criteria.
  • Commitment to completing CGI exams.
  • Right to work in the UK.
