SENDIASS Case Officer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a SENDIASS Case Officer to provide information, advice and casework support to families and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Dorset.

About the Role

Salary: starting at £24,971 FTE per annum, raising to £27,505 FTE per annum (pro rata for part time) - Grade 2 (upper) Point 16-19. £480 homeworking allowance per annum (pro rata for part time). Location: Home based within Dorset area, with an expectation to travel to fulfil the role requirements. Hours: 22.2 hours per week (0.6) with potential for more hours in future. Contract: Permanent.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide enquiry and casework support for families and young people, including in relation to the Education Health and Care Plan process.
  • Provide impartial advice on education, health and social care issues, such as resolving disagreements, mediation and SEND appeals.
  • Empower service users to self-advocate, improving holistic life chances.

Main Requirements

  • Recognised professional qualification in education, health, social work or equivalent (or equivalent experience).
  • At least one year's experience in a role with children and young people.
  • Experience working with children, young people and families with additional needs.
  • Empathy and ability to assist families in crisis.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and active listening skills.
  • First-rate verbal and written communication skills.
