Finance Officer

  • Salary: £15.12 per hour
  • Location: London – Head Office, N1
  • Contract: Casual
  • Hours: Sessional hours

About the role

Sessional Finance Officer at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s Finance Department. Reporting to the Senior Finance Officer, responsible for income and expenditure recording, purchase ledger, staff expenses, sales invoices, debtors/creditors, BACS schedules, and maintaining good communication with project managers.

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] supports people through change, challenge or crisis for over 150 years. The Finance department oversees all 165 services across England.

Main Responsibilities

  • Code income from bank statements and allocate accordingly.
  • Raise monthly sales invoices and reconcile sales ledger.
  • Ensure accuracy of nominal ledger postings from sales, purchase ledger and staff expenses.
  • Maintain debtors and creditors records, deal with queries.
  • Prepare BACS schedules for signature and send remittance advices.
  • Ensure procedures are up to date.
  • Organise workload to meet monthly reporting deadlines.
  • Maintain good communication between project managers and management accounts team.
  • Prioritise and respond to queries within reasonable timescale.
  • Carry out ad-hoc projects and analysis.
  • Maintain filing and information storage systems.

  • Understand and comply with safeguarding procedures.
  • Implement Equality & Diversity and Ethical Policies.

  • Assist with quarterly and year-to-date returns to funders.

Main Requirements

  • Recognised accounting qualification, NVQ 4 or equivalent degree.
  • Relevant experience in an accounts/finance team.
  • Ability to input information quickly and accurately with attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience with computerised accounting systems.
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM.
  • Good understanding of accounting concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience generating management information reports.
  • Ability to use initiative and suggest new ideas for service improvement.
