About the Role

ID: 1781 SENDIASS Officer. Solihull SENDIAS. Salary: £25,221 - £27,780 FTE per annum (£15,132 - £16,668 per annum for part-time hours). Location: Solihull SENDIAS, 11-13 Land Ln, Marston Green, Birmingham B37 7DE. We typically work 2 days a week in the office with flexibility to work from home on other days. Hours: 22.2 hours per week (Part-time). Contract: Permanent. At [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] we support people through change, challenge or crisis. In your role as a SENDIAS officer, you will provide impartial and confidential information, advice and support in relation to SEND law. You will ensure users of Solihull SENDIAS are aware of their legal entitlements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality point of contact for parents/carers/children/young people and organisations.
  • Provide accurate information on SEND procedures with regard to SEND Code of Practice 2014.
  • Hold a caseload and provide tailored support to families.
  • Keep accurate records and update Solihull SENDIAS database.
  • Network with SEND support groups and professionals.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of SEND legislation and local practice.

Main Requirements

  • Level 3 qualification in education, health or social care, or graduate level.
  • Willingness to complete IPSEA legal training within 12 months.
  • Knowledge of SEND principles, legislation and Code of Practice.
  • Proven experience working directly within SEND.
  • Resilience, sensitivity and empathy.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships.
  • High level IT skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Satisfactory DBS check.
