Best Start in Life and Family Hubs Engagement Worker

  • Location: Bradford, UK
  • Salary: £28,884 - £31,698 per annum
  • Hours: 37 hours per week (full-time), part-time considered (29.6 hours)
  • Contract: Temporary until March 2027
  • Closing Date: 27 April 2026

About the Role

The Best Start in Life programme provides extra support to families from conception to age five. [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] runs this service across the Bradford District, working through Family Hubs. The Engagement Worker will attend sessions, engage with families, signpost to services, and liaise with professionals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan forward to attend sessions across Bradford District in Family Hubs, satellite sites, and community venues.
  • Engage with families to share information about the Best Start in Life programme and encourage participation.
  • Be a friendly presence, building rapport with parents/carers and children.
  • Signpost and refer into Best Start in Life projects and Family Hub activities.
  • Support families to navigate the Families and Young People’s information (FYI) website.
  • Liaise with Family Hub staff, Family Navigators, and other professionals.

Requirements

  • Personal experience of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting, or supporting people in the first 1001 days.
  • Experience of supporting families and communities, community engagement or outreach work, and advising/signposting.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work autonomously.
  • Good networking and engagement skills.
  • Appointment subject to satisfactory DBS disclosure.
