The Vacancy
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] are looking for a skilled plant engineer to join our growing team of field engineers based in or around Willenhall or the wider Wolverhampton area.
This is a field-based role where you will travel from your home directly to our customers sites, so we are looking for a confident and independent individual with a strong background in the repair and maintenance of plant machinery.
Salary: Competitive base rate plus overtime and bonus

Key duties and responsibilities
- Repairing and maintaining machines on customers sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer’s specification
- Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily on a phone or tablet
- Submitting daily timesheets and job cards
- Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the parts department
- Working closely with the service supervisor
- Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer’s specification and any regulations affecting their use
- Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine – and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment
The ideal candidate will have
- Relevant experience and qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ qualifications in Construction Plant Maintenance
- Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
- Experience working on JCB Loadalls would be advantageous
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment
- Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers
- Good IT skills
- A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work
