The Role

Hours of Work: Full time. Start Date: September 2026.

We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, experienced and inspirational Chemistry teacher to join our Science Department. This post would suit an ambitious teacher looking to broaden their experience, however applications from exceptional ECT candidates will be considered.

Highly motivated and enthusiastic, the successful candidate will also have excellent interpersonal and team working skills with a positive approach. A willingness to contribute to extra-curricular activities and play a full part in the life of the school is essential.

Job Description

  • Teaching: Planning and preparing courses and lessons; teaching according to educational needs; assessing, recording and reporting on pupil progress.
  • Other Activities: Promoting general progress and well-being; providing guidance; communicating with parents; participating in meetings and extra-curricular life; upholding ethos and standards.
  • Assessments and Reports: Providing oral and written assessments, reports and references.
  • Appraisal: Participating in teacher appraisal arrangements.
  • Review, further training and development: Reviewing teaching methods and participating in professional development.
  • Educational methods: Advising and cooperating with Head and other teachers on curriculum and teaching materials.
  • Syllabus: Ensuring correct public examination syllabus is taught.
  • Discipline, health and safety: Maintaining good order and safeguarding pupils.
  • Staff Meetings: Participating in school meetings.
  • Public Examinations: Preparing pupils and assessing for examinations.
  • Administration: Managing support staff, ordering equipment, registering attendance, and supervising pupils.
  • Duties: Undertaking duties as assigned.

Person Specification

Essential qualifications: Relevant degree and excellent subject knowledge; PGCE or equivalent. Essential experience: Experienced teacher with excellent track record; proven ability to set high standards and inspire young people. Essential knowledge: Ability to teach Chemistry at KS3, GCSE and A Level; passion for the Sciences; keen interest in teaching and learning with commitment to CPD.
