Cover Supervisor

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], part of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], is recruiting a Cover Supervisor. Location: Hollins Lane, Accrington, Lancashire BB5 2QY. Salary: £28,142 - £32,061 per annum (FTE), actual £19,294 - £21,981. Contract: Temporary until 31 August 2027, 30 hours/week, term time only. Closing date: 11 May 2026.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated cover supervisor to deliver lessons in the absence of teaching staff and support within classes as needed. You will be delivering work set by teachers from across the curriculum and age ranges.

Main Duties

  • Supervise whole classes during short-term absence of teachers
  • Support cover management and prepare resources and work set by teachers
  • Provide in-class support and aspects of small group and 1:1 work
  • Manage behaviour of pupils to ensure a constructive environment
  • Complete cover lesson feedback forms
  • Report concerns using the school’s agreed referral procedures
  • Use the school’s Behaviour for Learning policy and record on Arbor
  • Attend INSET meetings and whole school CPD as required

Person Specification (Essential)

  • A levels or Level 3 equivalent
  • Qualifications in English and Mathematics to at least GCSE 5-9/A*-C (level 2)
  • Recent & relevant participation in professional development
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience of using IT / Office 365 / email
  • Ability to build positive relationships with young people and families
  • High level of professional standards and personal motivation
