About the Role

We're seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to join a dedicated team within a modern, purpose-built hospital in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality elective orthopaedic care in a state-of-the-art environment, with a strong focus on patient outcomes and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of elective orthopaedic procedures, including: primary hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, joint injections and aspirations, and additional minor procedures aligned with your expertise.
  • Deliver high-quality care across the full patient pathway: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Support and supervise junior clinical staff.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and service improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in teaching, CPD, and departmental development.

About You

  • GMC Specialist Registration in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
  • Proven high-volume surgical experience, such as 250+ primary hip/knee replacements OR 500+ arthroscopic procedures over 3 years.
  • Strong clinical outcomes supported by NJR (or equivalent) data.
  • Excellent theatre efficiency and patient care record.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility to meet service and productivity goals.
