Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon – Hip & Knee
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £130,000 – £140,000 per year

About the Role
We're seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon to join a dedicated team within a modern, purpose-built hospital in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality elective orthopaedic care in a state-of-the-art environment, with a strong focus on patient outcomes and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of elective orthopaedic procedures, including: primary hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, joint injections and aspirations, and additional minor procedures aligned with your expertise.
- Deliver high-quality care across the full patient pathway: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
- Support and supervise junior clinical staff.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and service improvement initiatives.
- Participate in teaching, CPD, and departmental development.
About You
- GMC Specialist Registration in Trauma & Orthopaedics.
- Proven high-volume surgical experience, such as 250+ primary hip/knee replacements OR 500+ arthroscopic procedures over 3 years.
- Strong clinical outcomes supported by NJR (or equivalent) data.
- Excellent theatre efficiency and patient care record.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
- Flexibility to meet service and productivity goals.
