About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Upper Limb) to join a dedicated clinical team within a modern, purpose-built private hospital in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity to deliver high-quality elective orthopaedic care in a state-of-the-art environment, with a strong focus on upper limb surgery alongside a range of minor orthopaedic procedures. With first-line cover provided by Resident Medical Officers (RMOs), on-call commitments are minimal and shared across a supportive orthopaedic rota.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of elective orthopaedic procedures, with a focus on upper limb
  • Deliver outstanding patient care across the full pathway – preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care
  • Support and supervise junior clinicians
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and service improvement initiatives
  • Participate in teaching, training, and ongoing departmental development
  • Engage in continuous professional development and strategic planning

About You

  • GMC Specialist Registration in Trauma & Orthopaedics
  • Proven high-volume surgical experience
  • Strong clinical outcomes supported by NJR data or equivalent
  • Excellent theatre efficiency and a patient-focused approach
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement
  • Flexibility to meet service demands and productivity targets
