Job Description
Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Location: Stowmarket, Suffolk
About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established manufacturing business based in Stowmarket, who are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join their team. This is a hands-on role within a production environment, supporting both installation and ongoing maintenance of plant equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical components and plant equipment using engineering drawings and workshop machinery.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Carry out routine inspections and planned preventive maintenance.
- Interpret technical drawings and take accurate measurements.
- Apply knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems; experience with pumps and chemical dosing is advantageous.
- Support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the production line.
- Diagnose faults and provide clear reports on issues and corrective actions.
- Work effectively as part of a maintenance team.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations at all times.
Candidate Profile
- Relevant mechanical maintenance qualifications.
- Proven hands-on experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Willingness to work in a shop-floor, production-based role.
- Experience supporting machinery installation and ongoing maintenance activities.
- Background in panel, insulation, or cladding industries is desirable, though not essential.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £35,000 per annum
- Hours: 08:00am to 16:30pm
- Overtime paid at 1.5x standard hourly rate.
- Holiday: 20 days plus public and bank holidays.
