Position Summary

To plan and manage a team of operatives, to achieve daily workload, to pre-determined productivity and service level targets, with total compliance to all legislation appertaining to Health & Safety, Employment Law, EU and company hygiene standards.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and motivate the team to achieve daily output objectives and deliver shift KPIs
  • Manage own and plan adjacent shift so that units per man hour (UPMH) meet or exceed the agreed McDonald’s budgeted levels
  • Establish clear and documented handover from previous shift. Clearly understand issues and achievements from previous shift, with productivity/accuracy/issues documented
  • Walk the warehouse with Assistant Operations Shift Manager going off shift, ensuring that hygiene and tidiness are to AIB standards
  • Ensure that all staff are trained and competent to carry out tasks assigned to them ensuring a multi-skilled workforce and use the training matrix as the tool to ensure all training is completed in the time allowed. All documentation is must be signed/dated and filled accordingly.
  • Ensure all probation reviews/assessments/appraisals are carried out with team as required
  • Proactively seek solutions to operational problems, suggesting and implementing change where necessary
  • Deputise for Assistant Operations Managers when required.
  • Ensure that there is sufficient employee resource both in quality and quantity terms to meet shift KPIs
  • Plan, manage and control labour usage to achieve budget productivity levels and financial spend
  • Identification and implementation of pertinent, immediate improvement plans to increase utilisation, improve productivity measures and methods
  • Plan and monitor individual break times, in conjunction with planned departure and arrivals of product
  • Shift preparation planning for adjacent shift, tomorrows shift, and next weeks shift, with due cognisance to forecast/actual volumes, holidays and any long term sick
  • Any reasonable request as directed by Operations and/or General Manager
  • To ensure daily briefings to team on daily requirements and to regularly update the team on logistics performance issues
  • Meet and greet shift. Record attendance, brief as per MBUK briefing template
  • Hold daily briefings – providing a format for an open 2 way form of communication between staff and shift management
  • Complete Daily Shift Management Reports for review with Assistant Operations Managers
  • Implement robust feedback process to relevant internal customers, i.e. customer services, field managers etc.
  • Awareness of and compliance with all company policies and legislation
  • Management of staff to be compliant with the MBUK values
  • Absence management procedures i.e. carry out RTW interviews prior to the individual resuming work, escalating as required
  • Arrange and complete all disciplinary/grievance issues
  • Ensure compliance with the Working Time Directive
  • Working closely with the Health & Safety Team, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation
  • Ensure full Health and Safety KPI’s are met
  • Constantly enforce MBUK clean as you go/QIP/AIB policies
  • Ensure Customer Service requirements are met in full
  • Total ownership of accuracy and timely completion of all operational data, while supply relevant evidence of data source, i.e. can be audited
  • Full KPI’s are met in particular the agreed credit target with McDonald’s

Qualifications

  • Previous management experience in a similar FMCG operation
  • Previous experience of MS computer packages to intermediate level
  • Good performance management skills
  • Previous experience with conducting interviews
  • Experience of managing within a union environment – Desirable
  • Formal management skills, experience of employment law, and HR processes - Desirable
