Summary of Role
Install underground electricity cable networks across the Company’s portfolio of Low-Voltage utility infrastructure projects. Carry out all activities without compromising on Health, Safety and Quality standards promoting and demonstrating the correct culture at all times.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Carry out cable jointing activities on newly installed LV networks.
- Where authorised install energising joints on to existing LV networks.
- Install new cable systems/assist other operatives where required.
- Carry out LV service terminations.
- Install and commission MSDBs.
- Fault locating, use of cable avoidance tools and overseeing any necessary excavations.
- Ensure before commencing work you are in receipt of all relevant documentation, drawings and that you understand the task(s) that you are instructed to undertake.
- Carry out site specific Risk Assessments and reviews of Method Statements before commencing works.
- Ensure all works are carried out to Company, DNO and/or IDNO specifications and standards.
- Ensure the appropriate usage of Tools, Equipment & Plant.
- Identify any project variations during the course of carrying out works and action within Company procedures and processes.
- Report all accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Working in a safe manner and in accordance with the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and procedures including the correct use of PPE.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues where required.
- Attend training and develop relevant knowledge and skills and actively manage their continuous professional development.
Person Specification
The ideal candidate is organised, reliable, adaptable, and personable. They should be able to work independently with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail. The candidate should be well presented, responsible, accountable, and eager to gain new experiences.
Qualifications and Experience
- Recognised DNO/iDNO LV live, cable jointing training.
- Previous DNO/iDNO LV live cable jointing authorisation.
- EUSR or ECS card (desirable).
- Highly motivated and quality driven.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate using different mediums.
- Willingness to work flexibly to meet the reasonable needs of the Company.
- NRSWA Operator certification (desirable)
- A valid UK driving licence
