Jointers Mate

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Jointers Mate. This is a full-time, entry-level, on-site position. Salary dependent on experience.

Summary of Role

Jointers Mate supports certified Cable Jointers by preparing sites, handling low/high voltage (LV/HV) cables, and using tools to assist with installations, repairs, and disconnections. Key duties include excavation, site safety, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with iDNO / DNO (Distribution Network Operator) standards, making it a critical role.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Assisting the Jointer with LV and HV electrical connections, including cable preparation, jointing, and service terminations.
  • Setting up safety equipment, such as cones and barriers, and conducting risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Loading/unloading materials, cleaning, and maintaining tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
  • Assisting with digging, backfilling trenches, and general site housekeeping.
  • Ensuring accurate records are kept in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Report all accidents, incidents and near-misses.
  • Ensure all work adheres to industry regulations and the Company’s quality standards.
  • Working in a safe manner and in accordance with the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and procedures.
  • Attend training and develop relevant knowledge and skills and actively manage their continuous professional development.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Understanding of Electrical Distribution Safety Rules and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in a physically demanding role.
  • Previous experience in a construction or electrical utility role is desirable.
  • EUSR or ECS card.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate using different mediums.
  • Willingness to work flexibly to meet the reasonable needs of the Company.
  • A valid UK driving licence.
