Job Description
Civil Engineering Placement (12 Months) Starting Summer 2026 at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], the UK's largest independent ground engineering contractor. You will get hands-on experience within a dynamic and progressive company.
What you'll be doing
- Assist and support the management of site operations, to ensure safety, quality, cost effectiveness, timely production and customer satisfaction
- Learn the aspects of planning and sequencing of operations, including writing method statements and risk assessments, and procuring sub-contractor, labour, plant and material resources
- Implement operational quality control measures and QA processes
- Develop work plans, method statements and risk assessments
- Monitor the progress of project works
- Take a proactive approach in the responsibility for Health and Safety ensuring all required documentation is in place
- Ensure full communication across all management levels within the project
- Ensure that all operatives are provided with the necessary resources, materials and information for the carrying out of their duties and for ensuring that safe working practices are followed
- Complete quality inspections to ensure work is completed to a safe standard.

- Any other tasks that you may reasonably be required to undertake
Who we're looking for
- Undertaking a degree in Civil Engineering
- Be able to demonstrate practical experience from construction or similar transferrable skills
- Experience with AutoCAD preferable
- IT competent in Microsoft packages and SharePoint
- Valid CSCS would be beneficial
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work effectively to deadlines and under pressure
- Good attention to detail and accuracy of work
- Effective planning and organisation skills
- A structured approach to problem solving
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, mathematical and technical skills
- Knowledge of the relevant legal and safety regulations
Other Requirements
- Eligible to work and live in the UK.
- Flexibility to travel in the UK.
- A full driving licence, that is valid in the UK (desirable)
