Deputy Head of ICT - Head Office - Ref 951

The Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers ([Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]) is one of the UK's largest trade unions. A vacancy exists for a Deputy Head of ICT based at the Union’s Head Office. Please note that this position is fully office based.

  • Salary: £67,595 pa
  • Location: Head Office, Salford Quays, M50 3XZ

Principal Duties

  • Under the general management of the Head of ICT, to participate as part of the management team in the strategic direction and development of the work of the ICT Department to ensure the provision of a full and comprehensive Information Technology service to the Union.
  • To provide expert advice and guidance on matters relating to the use of Information Technology within the Union.
  • To manage and participate in the implementation of ICT projects.
  • To assist in the management and development of the staff within the ICT Department.
  • To deputise for the Head of ICT in his/her absence as necessary.

Requirements

  • An IT-related degree or equivalent industry-certified qualification such as from Microsoft or Cisco etc.
  • Understanding of software licensing.
  • Knowledge of ICT development and support principles and practice, including ITIL, Prince, and Agile.
  • The ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately at all levels within the organisation and with external bodies.
  • The ability to display leadership, make decisions and give direction under pressure.
  • The ability to manage and develop staff.
