FULL DESCRIPTION

Quantity Surveyor

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to work part-time (two/three days per week) at their Head Office in Watford. Responsibilities include preparing competitive tenders, maintaining schedules of rates, reconciling cost/value reports, negotiating subcontractor packages, managing sub-contract accounts, submitting valuations and final accounts, and developing professional relationships with architects and clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of competitive tenders and quotes
  • Maintain and develop our schedules of rates
  • Reconcile cost/value reports and profit forecasts
  • Ongoing development of a sub-contract/ Material data base
  • Negotiate subcontractor packages/ Process subcontractor requests for payment
  • Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts
  • Develop an understanding of the specific contract, ensuring compliance with conditions throughout.
  • Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release requests
  • Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designated projects
  • Where appropriate attend project related site meetings
  • Manage the expenditure on projects to optimise cashflow
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with architects and clients, to help future business development

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience with SOR Rate Books (preferable)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent level of numeracy
  • IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Project, Word etc
  • Industry experience in the role of a Quantity Surveyor
  • Excellent Time Management
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Confident, Self-motivated & Enthusiastic
  • Flexible & adaptable
