Deputy Health and Safety Manager
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Deputy Health and Safety Manager to join the health and safety team. Based in Mansfield, this role involves working closely with the Area Health and Safety Manager to deliver compliance across the organisation. Salary: £40,551.55 per annum. Closing date: 15th May 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Deputising for the Area Health and Safety Manager during periods of absence
- Providing expert health and safety advice and training to staff, managers and stakeholders across the charity
- Working with key staff in creating and managing risk assessments
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting on health and safety data, including accidents, incidents and Legionella results
- Acting as a Health and Safety competent person for [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]
- Leading staff health and safety training, including first aid needs assessments and fire warden training
- Playing a leading role during external inspections and scheduled audits
- Working closely with the Estates team on compliance matters
- Ensuring that drivers of college vehicles meet licensing, training and compliance requirements
- Travelling across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s multiple sites as required
What We Are Looking For
- Demonstrable experience in a health and safety role and experience managing workplace hazards
- Knowledge of risk assessments in the workplace
- Experience of delivering training
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ICT skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise a complex and varied workload
- Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of a multi-site organisation
Qualifications
Essential
- National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- Certified Member of Professional Body IOSH
- Legionella Management for Responsible Persons
- English, Maths, ICT
- Full driving licence
Desirable
- Member of IFSM
Working Hours & Benefits
Monday – Friday – 8:30am – 4:30pm (flexible), 37.5 hours per week (part time 0.7 considered).
