Public Liaison Officer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Public Liaison Officer for a temporary 7-week placement at Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire. This role involves engaging with the community and stakeholders for the Saltfleet to Gibraltar Point Strategy project.

THE POSITION

Public Liaison Officer (PLO): temporary position for 7 weeks: 1st June to 19th July 2026, based at our Anderby Creek site, Lincolnshire. The PLO is the first point of contact for stakeholders wanting to find out more information about the Saltfleet to Gibraltar Point Strategy that [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] carries out on behalf of the Environment Agency: Saltfleet to Gibraltar Point Strategy | Engage Environment Agency. The PLO is a key link between the project team and the local community to ensure information is communicated clearly, concerns are addressed promptly, and social value is delivered in accordance with the project Social Value Plan (SVP).

YOUR IMPACT

  • Responding promptly and professionally to enquiries from members of the public, whether in person, by phone, or via email.
  • Staffing the Project Information Unit (PIU) on the beach, providing a welcoming drop‑in space where people can learn more about the project and ask questions during agreed hours.
  • Accurate record‑keeping, including maintaining communication logs for incoming and outgoing correspondence and social value activities, recording meeting minutes, and completing the PIU daily record sheet.
  • Preparing project newsletters and working closely with the project team to identify opportunities for positive communication and publicity, capturing photos and information for use in project updates and social media channels.
  • Supporting schools' engagement and delivering social value activities in line with the project Social Value Plan (SVP), collaborating with the project team as needed and engaging with local community groups, such as through donations to local charities or participation in local beach clean initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

You should have a good standard of written and spoken English, with the ability to share information clearly and professionally. Confidence in communicating with a wide range of people is also important, along with a friendly and approachable manner; this experience may have been gained through study, part-time work, volunteering, or other relevant activities. No previous experience is required. We welcome applications from students, recent graduates, and those starting or changing their career, who bring enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to learn. It is essential that you have a Full driving license! Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Outlook.

Desirable Experience

  • An ability to communicate clearly and politely with a range of people, in person, over the phone, or in writing (this may include experience gained through study, volunteering, part-time work, or extracurricular activities).
  • Any experience in a community-based, customer service, or public-facing role would be beneficial, though this is not essential.
  • An interest in working with children and young people; experience in a school, college, youth, or mentoring setting is helpful but not required.

WE OFFER

No experience necessary. Passion, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn is required! The following training and support will be provided: an introductory training week, regular contact with experienced public liaison specialists, support from the project team. To be considered for this role candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week for 7 weeks: 1st June to 19th July. Typical working hours: 09:00 to 17:00 (mostly Mon to Fri, but some weekend working when the campaign is working at the busiest tourist beach locations). The salary for this role is £15 per hour. In addition, we offer accommodation close to the site for the duration of the placement, as well as a petrol allowance if you use your own car, or access to a company vehicle if you do not have a car. The work site is located in the beautiful area of Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire.
