About the Role

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is looking to appoint a Pastry Chef for an immediate start. This is a full-time appointment. The primary role is to prepare cakes and pastry items of the highest standards. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for the preparation and serving of home baked pastry items at breakfast, lunch and supper for pupils and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to food hygiene, personal hygiene and safety regulations.
  • Ensure all goods are received, stored and handled in line with the food manual.
  • Produce food to the required standard and deliver to service times.
  • Plan quantities and adopt batch cooking methods.
  • Maintain high-quality appearance and taste of all food.
  • Provide input into menu planning.
  • Keep waste to a minimum through proper stock rotation.
  • Attend meetings or training courses as directed.

Person Specification

  • High levels of personal hygiene.
  • Well presented with uniform worn at all times.
  • Ability to manage and prioritise several tasks.
  • Creative with displays and themes.
  • Relevant pastry experience within the catering industry.
  • Sound understanding of health and hygiene.
  • Sound knowledge of current allergen legislation.

This is a full-time appointment based on core hours 8:00am-4:30pm Monday to Friday, 52 weeks per year. Salary: £33,120 per annum. Holiday entitlement: 33 days inclusive of public holidays. Probation period: 6 months. Notice period: 2 months after probation. Pension: Workplace Pension Scheme.
