Category Manager
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] has built a strong position as the UK’s favourite premium chocolate brand, and we’re now expanding into new product categories, new sales channels and new markets in the USA, Japan and beyond! To support our ambitious growth plans, we’re looking for a Category Manager to join our Trading team on a 12-month contract. This role will work with channel owners to deliver sales and profitability of products within the Food & Beverage category and ensure NPD launches are executed to optimise sales and margin. As Category Manager, the role will also proactively identify and highlight areas of growth and continuous improvement within the F&B category.

- Consistently deliver profitable commercial ranges that delight our Guests, maximise sales, minimise markdown and achieve profit targets.
- Work with the Global Food and Beverage Manager to create and implement the category strategies through our innovation labs and in line with the overall household strategy.
- Lead and engage key Merchandising, Procurement, Marketing and Outbound Supply teams to ensure that all ranging decisions allow the brand to be truly represented in all markets and channels.
- Lead NPD briefing sessions and work with development team to create and deliver new and exciting products, while co-ordinating and managing stage gate reviews of these products with the board.
- Work with the Marketing, Merchandising and Retail team to deliver robust, well communicated new product launches, alongside continual improvement of day to day trading of the categories.
- Together with the Merchandise team and Global, Food and Beverage Manager, establish key financial parameters and actively contribute to overachieve them.
- Weekly review product performance taking necessary action to optimise stock, sales, profit and availability including management of write-off risk, alignment with 3rd party procurement and working collaboratively with Outbound Supply, Merchandising and Fulfilment teams.
Who You Are & What You Have
Essential
- Established Category Management experience working within a Retailer in a Trading function
- Excellent product knowledge & ability to create successful global product strategies.
- Able to identify and drive key profit indicators with proven success
- Strong self-awareness, communication, networking and interpersonal skills
- Ability to influence and negotiate a variety of different audiences
- Resourceful, creative and flexible; thrives on positive change.
- Constantly strives for continuous improvements in approaches, processes & performance.
- Significant experience working within a retailer in a merchandising function.
- Fully competent in use of Microsoft applications.
Desirable
- Experience in of working with Wholesale partners.
- Knowledge of the US and Japanese markets
- Excellent understanding of the product development cycle, supply chain & marketing principles
