About the Role
Reporting to the Group Health & Safety Manager, you will be part of a team of safety professionals tasked with supporting the day-to-day running of extremely busy and dynamic environments. You will be responsible for championing, promoting, maintaining and establishing health and safety awareness and best practice across the Group sites.
Main Duties
- Assisting the Group H&S Manager in the development of H&S strategies and action plans.
- Supporting Health & Safety Committees at site level.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of health, safety and environmental management standards.
- Leading the introduction of Group health & safety and environmental procedures at site level.
- Maintaining accident databases and ensuring timely and thorough accident investigation.
- Acting in an advisory capacity regarding health, safety and environmental issues.
- Being responsible for the provision of Personal Protective Equipment and safety equipment.
- Maintaining adequate records on HSE issues to comply with legal requirements.
- Conducting audits across the site to identify procedural gaps.
- Liaising with other business leaders on the introduction and management of safety standards.
- Conducting site HSE inductions and organising statutory training.
- Carrying out daily compliance monitoring.
- Overseeing contractors at site and reviewing risk assessments and method statements.
- Providing relevant training to management and staff on safety issues.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be degree-qualified in Environmental Health, Science, Engineering or Health and Safety, or will hold the NEBOSH diploma in Health & Safety and will possess at least one year’s experience in a similar role. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, IT skills in Word and Excel, flexibility to travel and valid driving licence required.
