The Electrical and Control Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the electrical, automation, and industrial network systems in our production and warehousing facilities, as well as supporting and implementing continuous improvement projects. You will be our front-line support with any controls system related issues, ensuring that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently and safely. Moreover, you will use your expert technical knowledge and people skills to coach the Engineering team and improve their diagnostic skills to identify Controls issues.

This role works on a fixed night shift, mon-fri, 10pm-6am.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive electrical and controls system training for self and shift teams.
  • Identify obsolescence risk of electrical and controls equipment and use capex process to upgrade.
  • Ensure all software, programs, back-ups, and change logs are in place and kept up to date.
  • Subject Matter Expert for controls related equipment associated with capital projects.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across factory assets.
  • Assisting with root cause analysis (RCA) studies and follow up actions.
  • Installing and maintaining new systems as delivered to required standards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Apprentice trained electrical/controls/automation engineer.
  • Willingness to work on a fixed night shift, mon-fri.
  • C&G/NVQ3 in electrical/controls engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in controls systems engineering.
  • Excellent working knowledge of control systems/automation/electrical engineering on manufacturing equipment - Warehousing / distribution / logistics / process / production lines.
  • A strong understanding of PLC control system architecture and field control devices.
  • Computer literate in MS office package, ability to use a CMMS system.
