[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking an Engineer for a permanent, full-time role in Bishop's Stortford. Salary £43,000 - £53,000 per annum.

About the Role

My client is seeking a skilled and proactive Engineer to join their engineering team at a busy manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, compliant and efficient site operations by delivering high-quality engineering support across planned and reactive maintenance activities.

This is a hands-on role working across manufacturing areas, site facilities and utilities where you will help maintain plant reliability, reduce downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across manufacturing equipment, facilities and utilities
  • Respond rapidly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and restore production efficiently
  • Perform corrective maintenance activities across both low care and high care production areas
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with GMP standards and company hygiene procedures
  • Maintain full compliance with health and safety regulations and site engineering standards
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to improve equipment performance and reliability
  • Diagnose faults and independently resolve engineering issues in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate engineering logs, reports and maintenance records
  • Assist with organisation and control of engineering stores and spare parts availability
  • Support external contractors on site ensuring safe working practices are followed
  • Maintain engineering tools equipment and work areas in a safe clean and organised condition
  • Communicate effectively with production teams and engineering colleagues to ensure smooth operations
  • Attend production and engineering meetings as required to support operational planning

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing or FMCG engineering environment
  • Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to carry out both planned and reactive maintenance tasks
  • Good understanding of health and safety and GMP standards
  • Confident working independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong communication and reporting skills
  • Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage workload effectively in a fast paced environment
  • Experience working in food production or high care environments (desirable)
  • Electrical or mechanical engineering background (desirable)
  • Exposure to PPM systems and maintenance reporting tools (desirable)
  • Experience liaising with production teams and external contractors (desirable)
