Senior Data Engineer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement data architecture, storage solutions, and analytics platforms. This is a remote, full-time position with a pay range of $130,000 – $170,000 per year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 6+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
  • In-depth knowledge of Snowflake (warehouse design, RBAC, performance tuning, cost optimization).
  • Experience migrating data pipelines to Snowflake from other platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency with dbt for modular, tested data transformations.
  • Hands-on experience with Dagster for pipeline orchestration and asset management.
  • Proven experience designing data pipelines and analytics platforms on modern cloud data stacks.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python (Pandas, Polars, PySpark, or similar).
  • Strong SQL skills (analytical and transactional).
  • Experience with relational/columnar databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Snowflake).
  • Deep understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data warehousing principles.
  • Experience implementing data architecture patterns (medallion, data mesh, lakehouse).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi).
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures and orchestration integration.
  • Strong version control (Git) and CI/CD (GitHub Actions).
  • Experience building RESTful APIs; exposure to Docker is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data quality tooling (dbt tests, Great Expectations, Monte Carlo) is desirable.

What You'll Do

  • Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Architect scalable data platforms using medallion, data mesh, or lakehouse patterns.
  • Develop data-processing logic using Python (Pandas, PySpark, Polars) and advanced SQL.
  • Automate data workflows using orchestration tools like Airflow/MWAA and Step Functions.
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation) and CI/CD for data workloads.

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $130,000 – $170,000 per year.
