Senior SEO Manager

The opportunity

As a Senior SEO Manager, you’ll sit right at the intersection of technical expertise, client strategy and commercial outcomes, helping turn deep search insight into clear plans that move the needle for ambitious brands.

You’ll lead strategy across multiple accounts, work closely with clients, and act as a player-coach within the Search team, helping maintain the high delivery standards [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is known for.

Key objective

As a Senior SEO Manager, you’ll drive the strategy and delivery of SEO and GEO campaigns that translate technical insight into measurable business results. You’ll bridge the gap between deep technical SEO work and client-facing strategy, ensuring the work delivered by the team consistently connects back to visibility, authority and customer acquisition. This is a hands-on role where you’ll lead client conversations, shape search roadmaps and help guide the wider Search team to deliver work that sets the benchmark for organic performance.

Core responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of SEO and GEO strategies aligned with client business goals
  • Conduct detailed technical, on-site and off-site audits to identify opportunities for growth
  • Build structured SEO roadmaps that prioritise activity with the greatest commercial impact
  • Conduct keyword and intent research to inform content and site structure
  • Analyse search performance data to uncover trends and optimisation opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with Digital PR and content teams to deliver holistic organic growth strategies
  • Lead client WIP calls, present performance insights and translate technical SEO concepts clearly
  • Identify growth opportunities across client accounts and contribute to renewal conversations
  • Mentor and support members of the Search team
  • Act as a player-coach, contributing hands-on delivery while supporting team development
  • Step in to support leadership continuity when the Head of Organic is unavailable

About you

You combine strong technical SEO capability with commercial thinking and client confidence. You enjoy connecting the detail of SEO work to real business outcomes.

You likely have:

  • 4-6+ years experience in an agency-side SEO role
  • Proven experience managing client relationships and leading strategy
  • Strong technical SEO knowledge, including conducting audits and building roadmaps
  • Experience using tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs and Screaming Frog
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Confidence explaining technical SEO concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent organisation and project management skills
  • Experience or interest in AI search and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) is highly desirable
