Information & Cyber Security Analyst

Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Technology team as an Information & Cyber Security Analyst. We are looking for someone with a proven background in Information/Cyber security and a flexible 'can do' attitude to work in the Information & Cyber Security Team who manage and maintain the security of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] ICT infrastructure and information systems. You will work to proactively monitor IT systems; identify, manage and resolve security incidents, vulnerabilities, security alerts and threats; potentially perform penetration testing; and contribute to maintaining security certifications, assurances and accreditations. Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, and develop [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] cyber security operations and ICT security infrastructure.
- Actively monitor ICT systems: manage IT security monitoring tools, review alerts, triage false positives.
- Identify threats that have entered the network.
- Evaluate and address security incidents: identify affected systems, analyze processes, carry out threat intelligence analysis, implement remediation.
- Support the ICT Security Incident Management Process as a member of the Security Incident Response Team.
- Manage ICT Security service requests and incidents via the Service Desk system.
- Ensure appropriate access control to systems is maintained.
Person Specification
Vetting
- Eligible for UK National Security vetting to SC level (essential).
- Has UK National Security vetting at SC or above (desirable).
Qualifications
- Degree in computer science, IT, or related field OR equivalent experience plus specialist security certification (essential).
- Recognised qualification such as EC-Council CSA, CEH, CompTIA Security+, Network+ (desirable).
Knowledge and Experience
- Experience of 1st-3rd level technical support of IT infrastructure or security (essential).
- Detailed knowledge of IT system monitoring (SIEM) and Security Incident Management (essential).
- Knowledge of Information Security in areas: intrusion detection/prevention, vulnerability management, network technology, Windows 10/Server, SUSE Linux, Microsoft365, ISO27001, risk management, IT auditing (essential).
- Experience with IT security architectures (essential).
- Min. 1 year experience as SOC Analyst, Tier 1 or 2 (desirable).
Specialist Knowledge
- Knowledge of IT security and data protection issues (essential).
- IT Service Management best practice, including ITIL and ISO20000 (essential).
- Knowledge of encryption systems, security products (Authentication, DLP, SIEM), Firewall/WAF administration (essential).
- Knowledge of HMG Infosec standards, ITIL foundation, digital forensic tools (desirable).
Communication Skills & Aptitudes
- Good communication and interpersonal skills (essential).
- Understanding of remote management tools, ability to form working relations, interpret complex information, maintain integrity (essential).
