Nurse Assessor

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Nurse Assessor in Hemel Hempstead. This is a permanent, full-time role (37.5 hours/week) with a salary of £37,338 - £44,962 per annum plus 5% HCA.

Job Overview

As a registered nurse experienced in CHC, you will join a busy team of nurses who play a pivotal role in the CHC process. Knowledge and understanding of the current national and local policy/Framework Guidance relating to NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS Funded Nursing Care is essential. Main Responsibilities

  • Assess individuals for NHS Continuing Healthcare in line with the National Framework (revised July 2022).
  • Promote best practice and provide professional advice to Nursing Homes and other providers.
  • Complete face-to-face assessments and follow due process for eligibility determination (live, retrospective, appeals, disputes).
  • Review care plans to ensure all care needs are met safely and effectively.
  • Contribute to safeguarding adults from abuse (SAFA) process.

In addition to the basic salary, these posts attract a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary (pro rata where applicable). The posts can be based at our sites at Welwyn Garden City, Hemel Hempstead and Harlow. Travel between sites is required.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Current 1st Level Registered Nurse/NMC Registration
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of NHS Continuing Healthcare and NHS Funded Nursing Care
  • Experience with Safeguarding issues
  • Experience with patients with multiple/complex needs

Experience

  • Experience working across organisations, local authority, NHS Trusts, voluntary and independent sectors
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, project management or information analysis
  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden demands

Communication

  • Clear communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills
  • Evidence of efficient project and programme management
  • Skills for communication on complex matters requiring persuasion and influence
  • Skills for nurturing key relationships and maintaining networks

Analytical

  • Ability to analyse and interpret information, pre-empt and evaluate issues
  • Problem solving skills and ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands
  • Attention to detail combined with ability to extract key messages
  • Independent thinker with demonstrated good judgement

Autonomy

  • Ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload without supervision working to tight and often changing timescales
