Brief Description

You will become a trained engineer and you will use those skills to support the technical sales team to produce estimates, quotes, materials analysis, answer technical phone calls as well as doing product testing.

Qualifications Required

You will need to have a minimum of 5 GCSE’s grades 4-9 (A*-C) which should include Mathematics, English language and a Science or Technical subject at grade 6 (B) or above.

Training to be Provided

This 4 year programme will include:

• Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
• NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
• A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
• In house training in line with your requirements.

Vacancy Detail

Based in Milton Keynes you will be working in our Sales Engineering Group who play a vital role in providing our customer base with comprehensive product support in all sectors of industry. This is a diverse role that will provide many challenges but will also offer gratification in assisting personal and company growth. Diversity is the key word for this role as you will be learning about areas such as technical support, marketing, training and general engineering tasks including product testing. This brilliant, and diverse, role will include (but isn't restricted to)

• Becoming a qualified engineer through a full year's training at Make UK
• Producing estimates to be used in quotes for the sales team
• Suggesting adjustments to the designs to maximise company profit and reputation
• Conducting product testing to ensure that the products will be the best they can be
• Answering technical related calls with staff and clients
• Producing marketing materials based on new products

During your first year you will be at Make UK in Birmingham undertaking your studies. This will involve staying a hotel, linked to Make UK with other residential students, fully funded by [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], between Sunday evening and Friday morning. You will finish your studied weekly at 12.30pm on Friday to enable you to have time to get home. Your travel to and from the hotel is also funded by the company.

Other Information

You will spend the first year of your apprenticeship at Make UK in Birmingham, on a half board residential basis at a hotel, with the travel and accommodation paid for and organised by the company. The hotel boasts a swimming pool and a gym and is fully safeguarding approved. Make UK will pick you up from the hotel each morning and drop you back after you have completed your studies for the day.
