Brief Description

To help with the smooth running of the factory by providing Toolstores support and stock control. Support section leaders on tooling issues and report any problems to the Tool Room Manager.

Qualifications Required

  • 3 GCSEs, or equivalent, at grade 4 (C) or above, must include Maths, English Language and preferably science, engineering or product design.

Personal Qualities

  • Team player, self motivated.
  • Must be prepared to work overtime in line with Customer demands.
  • Flexibility between Brownhills and Fradley Sites.

Skills Required

  • Previous experience of working within a tool room stores and production environment would be advantageous, however not essential.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Training to be Provided

  • Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
  • A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
  • In house training in line with your requirements.

Future Prospects

Following your apprenticeship, you may become a toolmaker, or a toolroom technician.

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Machining Located in Brownhills, West Midlands and Fradley Park, Staffordshire. Its range of CNC machining centres is producing in excess of 6 million pieces each year. Using the latest CNC technology new projects are engineered to optimise production performance and reduce cost. Each new project has its own specially designed fixtures, dedicated cutting tools and individual gauging needs addressed to guarantee the complete quality package. [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] aims to optimise production efficiency and minimise production scrap to give the best value machining package. Optimised production methods are supported by up to date Inspection facilities allowing us to confirm and monitor the dimensions, surface finish and cleanliness of our product. ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES: TOOLING: Ensure that all spare cutting tools at the machine are cleaned, turned and replenished as used with spares available in the tool stores. Ensure that the section leaders record the results on the Misload Investigation sheet and assist with the investigation when required. Ensure that the section leaders complete the Tool Breakage sheet correctly and investigate major breakages. Ensure Tool Fault sheet is completed correctly and investigate major faults. STOCK: Control and report the issuing of consignment stock. Place all Re-grinds ready for collection in designated areas. Report all stock anomalies. Distribution of consumables e.g. PPE and supporting tools. KARDEX: Control of Goods In/Out Kardex stock. OTHER: To make all tool room visitors aware of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Company policies. Assist section leaders with tool investigation. Ensure machine downtime is minimised. Clear communication between day and night shift handover.
