Brief Description

You will learn how to work safely at all times and make a technical contribution to either the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of our products or equipment.

Qualifications Required

You will also need to meet our academic entry criteria: GCSE Maths and English Language at level 4 (C) or higher and in addition 3 further GCSEs at level 4 (C) or higher to include one STEM subject or an Engineering vocational qualification level 3 90 credits/540 GLH or higher. If you are successful at being invited to an assessment centre, we will ask you to indicate your preference for which pathway you would prefer to pursue.

Skills Required

To be eligible for our advanced (level 3) apprenticeship programme you will need to demonstrate a strong motivation for working in our manufacturing function and a good understanding of a level 3 'hands on' apprenticeship and the learning and training that is involved.

Training to be Provided

  • Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
  • A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
  • In house training in line with your requirements.

Advanced Apprenticeship Manufacturing - Working up to three years ahead of production, you’ll use your creativity to help translate, plan and implement engineering outputs into vehicle manufacture, and ensure our plants are designed to achieve the best quality and efficiency in a fast paced, technically rewarding environment. Manufacturing Apprentices will either be placed within our Manufacturing Engineering or Tooling & Pressed Parts Group. Our Manufacturing Engineering (ME) Team has embarked on a path to now not only design our facilities, but fully build, launch and maintain the equipment in them. This will include the need for Level 3 apprentices in Electrical Installation and Mechanical and Electrical Fitters. So this is hands-on, real world engineering. You’ll learn new methods, practices and equipment. You’ll apply everything you learn to the building and installation of manufacturing facilities. Our Tooling & Pressed Parts Group (TPPG) combines traditional manual skills with the latest technologies. Here apprentices will help maintain or develop some of our most innovative products. You’ll cover a range of skilled disciplines, all of which are essential to the development of new and existing models. Join us as a Manufacturing Apprentices and you’ll learn from a team of experts doing exciting new work in manufacturing engineering and production processes. The Apprenticeship - The Advanced Apprenticeship (Level 3) Manufacturing is a four-year programme, delivered under standards approved by the IfA (Institute for Apprenticeships). This exciting programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge you need for your role. This is all achieved whilst developing your knowledge, skills and business behaviours such as teamworking and problem-solving. You will learn how to work safely at all times and make a technical contribution to either the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of our products or equipment. During your second and third years you’ll continue your studies at the training provide on a one to two-day release basis with the constant guidance and support of a Workplace Learning Manager. Your fourth year will see you complete your end-point assessment and achieve your Level 3 Apprenticeship, ready for an amazing career in a permanent manufacturing role.
