Brief Description
Looking for an exciting career in Design and Manufacturing Engineering? We are looking for a motivated and curious Design Engineering apprentice to join our engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience whilst studying towards a formal engineering qualification.
Qualifications Required
- 5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.
Personal Qualities
- Must have a professional approach dealing with customers, Suppliers and colleagues.
- Practical Hands on approach

- Excellent communication skills, written, reading and oral

Training to be Provided
Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with your employer and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including: Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company; Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company; Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK; In house training in line with your requirements; Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer. On completion of your studies, you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering and Manufacturing Support Technician.

On completion of your apprenticeship, you can look forward to becoming a qualified Design Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer.

Duties will include, but not limited to: Assisting with the design and development of engineering components and assemblies; Producing and modifying technical drawings using CAD software; Supporting testing, prototyping and validation activities; Working with manufacturing, quality and project teams; Learning to interpret engineering specification and standards; Maintaining design documentation and version controls; Developing problem solving and analytical skills through real projects; Performing test on products for airflow and structural evaluation; Carry out fan performance and noise tests using manual and computerised equipment; Transferring of test data to spreadsheets for evaluation.
