Brief Description

We are looking for a curious and motivated Electrical Engineer Apprentice to join our engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience whilst studying towards a formal engineering qualification. We are looking for innovative minds and skills that go beyond just pure academic ability.

Qualifications Required

5 GCSEs at 9 – 4 / A* - C (5 or above preferred), must include maths, English language, and ideally Science, or equivalent related qualification.

  • Must have a professional approach dealing with customers, Suppliers and colleagues.
  • Practical Hands on approach

Skills Required

  • Excellent communication skills, written, reading and oral
  • Good IT Skills & Outlook
  • Good observation skills and eye for detail
  • Confident, good teamwork and ethics behaviours
  • Good numeracy skills

Training to be Provided

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with your employer and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including:

  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Practical Foundation Training – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
  • Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Workplace Competence Training - in years 2 to 4 in company
  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 1, 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
  • In house training in line with your requirements.
  • Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer

On completion of your studies, you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Mechatronics Maintenance Engineering Technician.

ROLE

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll gain several academic and vocational qualifications throughout your time with your employer and Make UK, which are fully paid for, including:

  • Assist in preventative, predictive and routine maintenance work.
  • Identify and ensure critical spares are stocked and reordered.
  • Co-ordinate with suppliers to supply spare parts for machines.
  • Carry out TPM (Preventive Maintenance) schedules.
  • Carry out the maintenance of plant machinery, electrical.
  • Identifying and liaise with suppliers of electrical services when required.
  • Investigating maintenance problems affecting production and identifying improvements.
  • Maintain and record work and machine breakdown history.
  • Assist and learn from experienced electrical workers to help build skillset.
  • Focus strongly on safety, knowledge of electrical systems and building good electrical systems.
  • Work within and abide by the company policies.
  • Undertake all onsite training to successfully complete the training.
  • Attend college regularly to become a fully qualified Electrical craftsman with BTEC electrical engineering.
  • Undertake an NVQ qualification and learn and integrate the knowledge, skills and experiences.
